Newport Council for International Visitors is a community organization promoting global understanding through the exchange of ideas and shared experiences via education and people-to-people programs for international visitors and local residents.
By creating opportunities for free, open and respectful communication Citizen Diplomats advocate strongly for preserving the World in tolerance, health, peace and prosperity.


There is no better way to strengthen our bonds of understanding and friendship with other nations than through educational and cultural exchange.

FEBRUARY & MARCH

Great Decisions seminars:  Great Decisions is a vehicle used to engage citizens in learning about the world.  Eight topics of international interest or concern are selected each year by the Foreign Policy association for discussion.  These discussions will be held every Wednesday evening in Newport with the first meeting on February 10, 2010.  The first session will be held in the DiStefano Lecture Hall of the Antone Academic Center at Salve Regina University, and the following meetings will be in the Meeting Room of the Newport Public Library.  The list of topics and speakers is given on the CIV Great Decisions page of this website.  Additional information on the various topics also can be found on www.fpa.org 

APRIL

Annual Spring Members Reception, location and date to be announced.  We will be honoring George Wein, founder of the Newport Jazz Festival and Newport Folk Festival and his great contribution to the international field of music.
