Newport Council for International Visitors is a community organization promoting global understanding through the exchange of ideas and shared experiences via education and people-to-people programs for international visitors and local residents.
By creating opportunities for free, open and respectful communication Citizen Diplomats advocate strongly for preserving the World in tolerance, health, peace and prosperity.

There is no better way to strengthen our bonds of understanding and friendship with other nations than through educational and cultural exchange.

CIV to Honor George Wein at the Annual Spring Members Reception on June 29, 2010

At the Annual Spring Members Reception CIV will be proudly honoring the work of George Wein, producer of the Newport Jazz Festival and founder of the Newport Folk Festival. Mr. Wein, who will be present to receive this award, has significantly contributed to the appreciation of American music around the world. Through his efforts, he has attracted many international musicians and visitors to the City-by-the-Sea.

Music will be provided courtesy of the Dick Lupino Trio. The reception will be held at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, 194 Bellevue Ave., Newport, RI, from 6-9pm.

CIV members will provide appetizers. A cash bar will be available. Admission is free for members; the public is invited for a $15 donation at the door. Reservations for the reception are required. For reservations contact entertainment@newportciv.org or call Anne Huot at 401-847-9992.
