Professor Marshall Hoyler
Marshall Hoyler is a professor on the faculty at the Naval War College, Newport, RI. Currently assigned to the War Gaming Department, he also taught classes in the National Security Decision Making Department and served on the staff of the Strategic Studies Group, a very select group of senior officers performing studies for the Chief of Naval Operations and resident at the War College.
Professor Hoyler has had a long and distinguished career in national security planning and policy analysis. That career began with his service in the U.S. Marine Corps as a rifle platoon leader. Following graduate studies at Harvard he served as analyst at the Congressional Budget Office, the Department of Energy, the Logistics Management Institute, the Institute for Defense Analyses, and the Center for Naval Analyses. In these positions he has headed and/or participated in studies on numerous significant issues affecting U.S. security and presented his findings to senior decision makers in government including testimony before committees of Congress.
Professor Hoyler is graduate of Swarthmore College with a B.A., High Honors, in Politics and History. He also graduated from Harvard with a Masters in Public Policy, concentration in Economics and National Security. |
