Dr. Goldstein is an associate professor in the Strategic Research Department of the Naval War College (NWC), Newport, RI, and is the director of NWC’s China Maritime Studies Institute.  Proficient in the Chinese and Russian languages, Professor Goldstein has conducted extensive field research in both China and Russia.  He earned a PhD from Princeton University in 2001 and has an MA from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.  Dr. Goldstein has also worked in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
