Newport Council for International Visitors is a community organization promoting global understanding through the exchange of ideas and shared experiences via education and people-to-people programs for international visitors and local residents.
By creating opportunities for free, open and respectful communication Citizen Diplomats advocate strongly for preserving the World in tolerance, health, peace and prosperity.


There is no better way to strengthen our bonds of understanding and friendship with other nations than through educational and cultural exchange.

Spring - Summer 2012

The 2012 Great Decisions series will be held during the Spring, Summer, and Fall months of 2012.  Additional topics and information on this year's series may be viewed at: Great Decisions. The Great Decisions Series is co-sponsored by Newport CIV and the Pell Center at Salve Regina University. The seminars are free and open to the public but reservations are required. NEWPORT COUNCIL FOR INTERNATIONAL VISITORS SCHOLARSHIP

High school seniors graduating from an Aquidneck Island High School are invited to apply for a $1,000.00 award towards the pursuit of a college degree.  The award will be based on academic achievement, extra curricular activities and community service.  Seniors who have been associated with programs or activities that promote international relationships will receive special consideration. Application requirements have been mailed to all Aquidneck Island High Schools and interested parties should contact their school guidance officer for details.  Nomination must be postmarked by Friday, 13 May 2012.
